All about the Tongan purse.
In Tonga there are purses that are used to carry money and other things such as perfume. It is made out of tapa cloth, and it is used for going to church, parties and other celebrations.
The tapa is made from trees that we beat with sticks and then put patterns on. This is made from natural materials and takes a long time. The patterns on the purse represent Tonga and
The pacific islands. Some pictures on the purse are of whales jumping out of water, an island of Tonga and an island with rocks on. There are also coconut trees’
The purse is usually made by the woman in Tonga.
