Term 2 Fire Wise
In Term 2 the Junior classrooms of Room 3, 6, 7, 12 and 14 spent 4 weeks learning to be Fire Wise. At the end of the learning we had a visit from fire fighters and their fire engine.
We learnt lots about how to be safe.
Room 14 would like to share some of their learning.

Room 14 used an inquiry approach to learn about Firewise. First the class wrote down everything they knew about Fire and fire safety, then, they listed some questions they wanted to find out about fire. Each student received a ‘Firewise Family Book” with a CD to promote fire safety as well as reading skills. Most students wanted to find out why fire spread so quickly while some wanted to find out about the firefighters’ gears.
