School Values

At Wesley Primary School exploration and understanding of values is an integral part of the interactions that occur within our classrooms.

Through their learning experiences, students will learn about:

  • Their own values and those of others
  • different kinds of values, such as moral, social, cultural, aesthetic, and economic values
  • the values on which New Zealanders cultural and institutional traditions are based
  • the values of other groups and cultures

Through their learning experiences, students will develop their ability to:

  • express their own values
  • explore, with empathy, the values of others
  • critically analyse values and actions based on them
  • discuss disagreements that arise from differences in values and negotiate solutions
  • make ethical decisions and act on them ensuring their own behaviours and actions have integrity in terms of what they value.

Students will be encouraged to value:

We know we value this when we:

  • Do our best at all times.
  • Stay on task
  • Aim high and never give up.
  • Are role models for others.

Integrity- This means being responsible for your choices and actions. It also means being fair and honest.

We know we value this when we:

  • Are honest and tell the truth.
  • Do whats right and make good choices

  • Can’t find an answer and search for it.
  • Question to solve problems and succeed.
  • Think in our brains and minds.
  • Think in different ways.
