Haere mai e te whānau o Wēteri kura

Principal's message:

Kia ora e te whanau te kura tuatahi o Wēteri, 

Firstly I want to welcome you to our kura and we hope that you enjoy our new school, as it was newly opened in 2023. 

Our school is a multicultural learning community situated in Mount Roskill and we are part of the Mt Albert Kahui Ako and also Ako Hiko Cluster of schools. We have iwi partnerships with Ngāti Whātua Ōrakei Iwi and Tainui waka who have provided our school with support in being more responsive to Te Tiriti o Waitangi. 

We celebrate the diversity of the learners within our school and believe in building strong relationships/partnerships with whanau to enhance student success. Staff, students and whanau share our school's values by showing respect to each other - manaakitanga  and being responsible for our environment - kaitiakitanga.

Our mission statement,  Ki Te Marama – Towards Enlightenment is aspirational and hopes to empower our students to bring their dreams into reality. We believe in creating a quality world where students are safe and happy, develop a positive attitude towards learning and experience success academically, physically, emotionally and socially.

A little about my history, as I have worked with the Wēteri community for 14 years, with a number of organisations and as well as being a former Deputy Principal of Wesley Intermediate School.  I am originally from Fiji and I grew up in Manurewa, Auckland from the age of 7.  I have two children aged 1 and 4. Also my wife Rebecca and I have previously lived in the Puketāpapa area as well.
