Haere mai e te whānau o Wēteri kura

Principal's message:

12 June 2024

Bula vinaka, Wesley Primary School families and children,

It is with a heavy heart that I have resigned from my role as Principal of Wesley Primary School. My last day will be Friday, 26th July 2024. I have been very blessed to work with such great tamariki, whānau, teachers and admin staff at Wesley Primary School since July 2020. I have now been appointed as the new Principal of Maraetai Beach school starting next term.

I want to thank the Board of Trustees for their support. Together, we have done many good things for our children, like designing and building a new school. We have worked hard on making our learning programs more responsive for Māori, Pasifika and migrant communities.

To our families, students, and many others, thank you for your support for Wesley Primary School and me in the last four years. As a new Principal, you welcomed me into your homes and hearts, so I hope I have served you well.

I am excited about our final events this term, like Matariki, Breakfast karakia on 21st June at Wesley Intermediate and also 26th June 12pm at Wesley Primary for our Hangi and Celebration. I look forward to celebrating with you all, in my last few weeks at our kura. Our Associate Principal - Andy Crowe will be the Acting Principal from Term 3, until a new Principal is appointed.

Thank you for letting me be your Principal. I will always remember the good times and relationships, especially aspects of Wesley Primary, like our school camps, Cultural celebrations, Matariki and being part of such a caring community. I will miss you all.

Vinaka vakalevu (Thank you very much)

Lou Reddy
