Inspiring Engagement - Realising Potential
Wesley Primary School currently hosts 3 satellite classes of Central Auckland Specialist school ( CASS). The students who attend our classes here are enrolled with Central Auckland Special School and attend school each day in their classrooms at Wesley Primary school . Warmly welcomed into the Wesley community, the presence of our class onsite creates opportunities for all students to achieve within a connected, inclusive, diverse and valuing learning community. The vision is that all those connected to the school feel proud of their identity and able to participate fully in school life.
The CASS classes caters for students with intellectual and physical disabilities who need specialist learning programmes, therapy and staff support to reach their potential as learners. Our aim is to provide our students with the highest quality teaching and learning in a setting best suited to their needs. We provide and create a community for our students and families of acceptance, understanding, advocacy and opportunity.
We view each student as a unique learner. We follow the New Zealand Curriculum which is adapted to ensure our students become effective communicators and independent lifelong learners. Whilst most of the school programme takes place within the class itself, opportunities for inclusion are actively sought and encouraged with groups and individual students with the wider school community across the day.
